1st Night at Inle Lake

We left Bagan early in the morning for our flight to Heho, the airport closest to Inle Lake, a popular destination spot in Myanmar. It is the second largest lake in Myanmar and is about 45 square miles and at an elevation of about 3,000 feet. It sits roughly in the center of the country.

Our hotel is amazing. It's the Inle

Lake Resort, reachable by both road and lakeboat. Of course it's very cool to arrive by longboat.

After settling in, we walked the grounds to see what the resort had to offer. It's peaceful and quiet and quite isolated once you're here. JoJo our guide deposited us in the afternoon and we wouldn't see him again until 9:00 the next morning.

Not to worry. We were tired and no one had had a good night's sleep yet so we found ourselves in the dining room having dinner at 6:00 and everyone back in their rooms and sleeping by 7:30. I, for one, slept very well! 10 straight hours with just one midnight potty run. I woke feeling rested, refreshed and hungry.

Here are some sunset shots of our first night.
