A couple of days at sea before arriving in Puerto Vallarta. We had a little Mexican fiesta time on board featuring some singers and dancers, as well as a Mexican themed dinner menu last night.
I've not been to PV before and I found it to be quite a lovey port town. The city is sort of nestled between a mountain range and the ocean.
Jim and took a shared taxi to old town a few miles away. We walked along the malecon which is the sea walk. Lots of cool sculptures, sidewalk cafes and shops selling all sorts of things.
We strolled for awhile and then sat at a restaurant for some authentic Mexican food and a bottle of beer. Lunch plates for two including two bottles of beer came to $14.
We wanted to get in some exercise so we walked back to the ship. It was somewhere around 2-3 miles. Thankfully it wasn't too hot but even so, the sun burned down on us.
It's been a really nice day.
Last night our TA had a cocktail party for us before dinner. That was enjoyable. There's well over 200 of us on board. Jim and I ate in the Canaletto, the ship's Italian specialty venue. Lots of food. Their idea of a half portion is enough to feed a small army. Oy!!
The show was a comedian but that shouldn't be what he is called. He wasn't very funny. We walked out halfway through. However, there was another informal performance by the guitarist we saw the other night in the Ocean Bar after the comedian's show. The guitarist was outstanding. Sort of an impromptu jam jazzy session with the ship's band. We'd like to see more of these types of performances.
Tonight is another evening in the Pinnacle, the great steakhouse venue. Yum.
